10th anniversary of the ‘Horizonte’ new settlement
On 1 February, the 10th anniversary of the Horizonte colony was celebrated. With breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea provided for all guests, nearly 300 visitors were welcomed on the day.
Throughout the day, information was provided about the origins and development of the colony itself, as well as the congregation and the school. There is a certain unity between congregational life and public life within the colony.
The programme included, alongside the festive sermon, a number of songs, the presentation of awards to the first settlers, a photographic retrospective of the years of development, and so on.
Outside, a machinery parade and a pupils’ parade took place during the course of the day. Various sporting activities were also organised.
The central theme, however, was to give thanks to and praise God. The day concluded with a prayer of thanksgiving led by senior brothers.
