Annual Report by Nadja Goldberg

‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’
Jeremiah 29:11

I look back on eleven eventful months in Bolivia. When I arrived here in October 2019, Bolivia was in a state of emergency due to the presidential elections, and if anyone had asked me whether I wanted to go home, I would certainly have said ‘yes’. It’s a good thing nobody asked me!

I have learnt that it is worthwhile to know an all-knowing, all-wise and almighty God, for with all the uncertainties that have arisen this year as a result of the coronavirus, it would otherwise have been easy to fall into despair.

I am grateful to God for giving me so many different opportunities to serve Him here. For although I had originally thought that my main area of ministry would be in the city of Santa Cruz in Betesda, circumstances meant that I was also able to serve Him as a teacher at the school and to establish and expand many personal contacts in various neighbourhoods – something that would probably not have been possible otherwise.

Just as the verse says, I am constantly reminded that God has good plans and that the paths He leads us along are good for us, even if we cannot always understand them.

I am very much looking forward to seeing what plans God has for my future path.
