Business trip to Mexico
From 5 to 27 September, we accepted an invitation from two different churches in Mexico. The invitation was already a good two years old, but due to the Covid-19 situation, it had only just become possible to fulfil it. On top of this came a request to be involved in a church planting initiative, and so it turned into a three-week tour of Mexico. First, we spent a week in Schönfeld near Cuauhtemoc, holding evening evangelistic meetings. From there, the journey took us eight hours south to La Honda for a week of evangelism, and then another eight hours or so south-east to Tamaulipas for the church planting. During the evening meetings, there were numerous conversions and pastoral care was provided. Glory to the Lord! In La Honda, a radio station was also set up, which now broadcasts the Gospel 24 hours a day to the settlement and the surrounding area. The final week before the church planting in Tamaulipas was spent evangelising for two days, whilst the remaining meetings were devoted to teaching about the church. Here, too, two young souls were converted. Elder John Dyck from the Mennonite congregation at Km.5 Cuauhtemoc, which oversees the group, held many of the discussions necessary prior to the church’s establishment. On Sunday 25 September, the congregation was then established. The service took place in the new church, which is not yet quite finished, but the main hall is already suitable for holding services. The brothers and sisters have worked hard over the past few weeks to get it ready. Their dedication and love for the work were evident. In the morning, 29 members were admitted to the congregation, and that very afternoon the congregation grew by two young people who were baptised into the faith. The members of the congregation, along with many guests, enjoyed a blessed day with a service, a shared meal and fellowship. Glory to the Lord! Please pray for these brothers and sisters that they may grow in following Christ and in discipleship.
