At the moment, it is the winter holidays in our schools. The teachers from Horizonte and Sommerfeld are spending the holidays at the mission house in Santa Cruz. This also provided a good opportunity to hold a staff retreat. At the moment, there aren’t that many of us. However, the workload hasn’t decreased, nor have the challenges. That’s why it did us all good to draw fresh inspiration and strength for our ongoing ministry through shared prayer and Bible study.
Such retreats usually take the following form: we meet on Saturday morning. After the welcome, each staff member shares their experiences in ministry and prayer requests, and we then pray together. Afterwards, we have a Bible study on selected passages from the Bible.
A shared lunch is also part of the programme, which we prepare together. In the afternoon, we usually listen to a short talk and discuss it. The formal part then concludes with another time of prayer. Afterwards, we are usually treated to coffee (sometimes even Jacobs!) and cake. Before sunset, most of us head back to our places of ministry.
Our prayer requests:
- Joy and strength for all staff in ministry.
- For successors to staff members who are finishing their service at the end of the year.
