Daily life at Horizonte
We have now seen some highlights of church life: the start of the school year, the youth retreat, the dedication of the new church, the harvest festival, and evangelism with Beat Abry. Everyday life is slowly returning to normal. We are continuing with follow-up work with new believers, baptismal classes for five young people, and the regular church programme.
New families are gradually moving in. For various reasons, a young family moved away recently. Their new home is a simple meadow which now needs to be fully fitted out: from the house to the cowshed. Or rather, from the cowshed to the house. People from the countryside know exactly where to start in order to survive. So this young family has also begun to set up their new home with a pigsty, a cowshed and a henhouse. For a farmer, this is the first place where he invests what he has. For the time being, they will be living in the new henhouse (which has not yet been inhabited by hens) until the house is built. This also provides opportunities to help such new settlers from time to time and, in doing so, to make friends. The young man I am pictured with has since come to faith.
