Jana Ketler

My name is Jana Ketler and I am 18 years old. I come from the Mennonite congregation in Barntrup. After completing my A-levels, I came to Bolivia for two months (July and August). Here, I am helping out at the school in the Horizonte settlement. In the mornings during lessons, I assist the teachers and help with German and maths lessons in Years 1 to 3. In the afternoons and on Saturdays, I give some children extra tuition. This means we do their homework together, practise reading and occasionally work on other exercises.

I was fortunate to grow up in a Christian home and came to faith in Jesus when I was about five years old. So, I took part in all the children’s services from the start. In 2020, a lot changed in my life, and during that time I was able to get to know God in a whole new way. I experienced that God is my personal Saviour! From then on, I began to build a more personal relationship with God and try to become more like Him every day. So I was baptised in 2022. In 2022, I decided that after finishing school I would like to study to become a primary school teacher. I realised that I would have a few months’ break in between and wanted to make that time available to God. After much prayer and discussion, God led me to come here to Bolivia. It really is incredible to experience God’s guidance in this way!
