My name is Nelly Neufeld, I am 22 years old and have been able to serve in Bolivia again since 5 September 2022. Again? Yes, I first came to Bolivia four years ago to serve as a teacher in El Dorado, or rather La Gracia. You can find out more about this in my profile under ‘Former Staff’.
So how did I end up back in Bolivia?
God’s ways are so much higher than ours, and He led me to Bolivia in a wonderful way.
In January 2022, I had to put my training on hold for personal reasons, and I wondered how my path should continue. I’d often thought about going back to Bolivia to serve there, but I wanted to do so only after completing my training. So I eventually found another training placement for August 2022.
In March and April, I had the opportunity to fly to Bolivia for a few weeks’ visit. Whilst I was there, I began to feel uneasy about my decision to start a new training programme and wondered whether God wanted to use me in Bolivia for the foreseeable future. I asked the Lord to reveal His plan for me through His Word. And He did. The call was clear, and the conversations that followed confirmed this. God had wonderfully prepared those around me – my family, church leaders and friends – and they had been certain long before I was that my place for the coming period was in Bolivia.
So I am delighted to serve my Lord at Betesda, the bookshop run by Bolivienhilfe. Here, the focus is primarily on conversations with customers; many people from the Altkolonie who are searching for answers come to our shop. My aim is to share God’s love with them and help them accept it personally. I would be very grateful for your prayers.
