Hello, my name is Bernd Falk, I am 22 years old and have been privileged to serve the Lord in Bolivia since September 2021.
Who am I?
I am a young man who grew up in a family and church that believes in Jesus Christ, and who recognised and accepted my sinfulness and the need for God’s grace at the age of 10. At the age of 15, I was able to give up my ‘double life’ – partly for God and partly for myself – and commit myself entirely to a life with Jesus Christ.
How did I come to Bolivia?
I had been asking myself for some time where the place was where I was meant to serve God. During my training, I gave this a great deal of thought, and the possibility of serving on a mission for a time took up more and more space in my mind. After some doubts, deliberations, discussions and prayers, I found peace and clarity in deciding to take this path. So, on 28 September 2021, I flew to Bolivia.
What are my duties? For
the first few months, I taught German, maths and music at the parish school in the Morgenland settlement. From February 2022, I have been working as a bus driver and teacher. I collect the schoolchildren from the Swift Current settlement and drive them to school in Sommerfeld, where I also teach. In the Sommerfeld parish, I am able to help out with the choir.
“Serve one another, each with the gift of grace that you have received, as good stewards of God’s varied gifts! If anyone speaks, let their words be as the very words of God; if anyone serves, let them do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ: to him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”
